About the operation/ autopsy reports/ pictures
I have always had autopsies done on my ferrets when they died. I have always asked for tissue samples to be sent off to pathology. I have included the pathology reports in every deceased ferret's "story". I can't deal with a ferret's death if I don't know what was wrong. You don't always know beforehand what exactly was wrong.
Then 2 1/2 years ago I started taking pictures during autopsies and then during operations. I have done a page with x-ray/ autopsy/ operation pictures. Now I have started this page where I will publish other people's operation and autopsy pathology reports and any pictures, accompanied by a write-up about the ferret's illness, symptoms, progression etc. This way I hope to collect a lot of ferret medical data, real life stuff. So if somebody writes they have a ferret with such and such symptoms, maybe we can point the person to a case covered here that had the same set of symptoms. It won't replace the vets but it may help vets and possibly other ferrets and their owners. The more we know about ferrets and the diseases they get, the better we can care for them.
