Pete and I did the Brecon show with Sheila and her friend Maggie. We arrived in Brecon on Thursday 3rd August, bought sleeping bags on the way to Brecon and slept on mattresses in the van. It was nice weather when we arrived and our marquee was just being put up when we arrived so after a cup of coffee we put all ferrets in the marquee.
The show was on Saturday the 5th and started quiet as usual. But then a lof of people visited us and loads of kids came to hold and stroke ferrets. It was a hot day, luckily our marquee was under some trees so it was a nice cool temperature all day long. Early in the beginning, a family came into our marquee and started speaking badly about the ferrets even though I was in the marquee. They said that ferrets stank and were nasty so I got my Fox out of the cage and cuddled and kissed him to show those people how wrong they were. They continued to walk around the marquee and walked past me in the end and got interested in Fox, asked if they could pet him and they ended up holding him and soon changed their minds about ferrets. :-) They even apologized for talking the way they did when they came in! :-)
So all in all the show was a success again and we all educated a lot of people.

I got another 2 rescue ferrets today, 2 2 year old albino hobs, brothers. They are very friendly and playful. A lady had bought them for their 2 sons, one went to university last year and the other is going this year so the lady was looking for a new home for them and phoned me around the beginning of July. I didn't want to take any more ferrets in and suggested she put an ad into a paper and try and find a new home for them but she was too frightened that they'd go to a bad home and seemed to really want me to take them in. The hobs weren't castrated and there was no way I'd take in 2 whole hobs that needed separate housing but the lady was happy to have them castrated for me and she was also happy to bring them here (she lives about 100 miles away!) so I couldn't really say no. So the lady had the hobs castrated in July and then brought them to me when their hormones had gone and they could be kept together. When she brought them, they were still housed separately but I put them into my travel cage together and they were so happy to be together and when they're out, they play lovely together. They were a bit quiet in the beginning but now feel right at home and are happy little things. They also ask me to play with them when they're out, they jump up my legs and dance all around me. :-)
